Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions is an annual event held in Ebisu to showcase art and imagery in multifaceted and cross-disciplinary ways through exhibitions, film screenings, live performances,and talk sessions, etc. The 13th edition of the festival was rolled out under the overall theme of “E-MOTION GRAPHICS”, exhibiting a diverse range of imagery, especially moving images, from the perspectives of the “origins of moving imagery expressions,” “texture of moving imagery expressions,” “personification through imagery” and “how we engage with imagery,” while focusing on the power of imagery to stir the emotions of viewers. While referencing historic works, the exhibition also offered imagery of artworks by leveraging augmented reality (AR) to expand the enjoyment of imagery. In addition to exhibits and screenings that took up the entire art museum, the festival also provided visitors with opportunities to encounter a wide range of expressions of imagery, including programmes that allowed them to enjoy, learn from, think about and wander through a selection of imagery as well as “YEBIZO MEETS” events held in collaboration with local cultural facilities and galleries.
