A large-scale tea ceremony open to all aimed at introducing and sharing the traditional tea culture and other aspects of Edo and Tokyo culture to a wide range of local residents as well as tourists visiting Tokyo. The event is held at two locations, the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum and the Hama-rikyu Gardens, over two days each time. In 2019, a variety of tea ceremony programmes were carried out including: traditional tea gatherings and open-air tea gatherings put on by various schools, tea ceremony classes for parents and children, tea ceremony experience events inviting first-time participants to try making their own tea, open-air tea gatherings with English commentary and open-air tea gatherings where high school student members of school tea ceremony clubs served tea outdoors. In addition, flower arrangement demonstrations and shakuhachi (vertical bamboo flute) and guitar performances took place on the special stage, and other events including workshops on Japanese accessories and traditional Japanese games were held inside the venues. Furthermore, programmes to allow foreigners to experience traditional culture were carried out, inviting participants to try flower arranging, Edo Sashimono (traditional wood joinery) and dressing up in kimono. The total number of visitors in 2019 reached 20,000 for the two venues.
