『Shibuya StreetDance Week 2019』1 SSDW CONTEST2 BATTLE PARK3 DANCE WITH music4 LECTURE SPOTThis is an event to establish street dance as a new art form and to promote the appeal and intrinsic value of street dance both in Japan and overseas from Shibuya, the Mecca of street dance in Japan. In 2019, various programmes were carried out, with Yoyogi Park serving as the main venue. Such programmes included: “BLUE STAGE”, hosted by organisations engaged in social activities as well as professional dancers; “SSDW CONTEST” high school dance club championship; “LECTURE SPOT” dance lessons given by professional dancers; the genre-based “BATTLE PARK” dance battle; “CULTURE BOOTH”, which introduced the social activities of dance organisations; and “Shibuya DANCE CARAVAN”, a dance showcase performed in the streets of Shibuya. Around 39,000 visitors attended the event. In 2020, we decided not to hold the event in Yoyogi Park due to COVID-19, and instead streamed the entire programme online.
