Light and Sound Installation "Coded Field” is a project that was planned by Rhizomatiks, a full-stack group that worked on developing video and production technology for the closing ceremony of the 2016 Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro presenting Tokyo 2020 Games. Analyzed and coded the architectural data and topographical data of Zojoji Temple in Shiba, Minato City programmed and created a field in the virtual space with converted light and sound information. It was the first large-scale participatory outdoors public art project, in which the light and sound of the balloon-shaped device distributed at the time of the visit changed according to the movements of the participants. The one-night-only live performance featured "ELEVENPLAY,” a dance company directed by choreographer MIKIKO, and musician SAKAMOTO Miu. A futuristic Tokyo depicted using the latest technology staged amid the historic and traditional setting of Zojoji Temple. Numerous people experienced this new art space at the intersection of tradition and innovation.
