SUPER WALL ART TOKYO is a project that used the large glass walls of the Marunouchi Building and Shin- Marunouchi Building located in front of Tokyo Station as a pair of canvases to make a giant public art installation of a kind never before seen in Japan. With the Olympic and Paralympic Games attracting the attention of people both from all over Japan and around the world, this project was designed to symbolise the message of the Tokyo Tokyo FESTIVAL, based on the idea of making the world's largest public art installation in Tokyo in summer 2021. The concept of this project is “Universe COSMO POWER.” The activity of minute life forms making up the vast universe become energy by connecting and gathering together, creating a swell that continues to grow into the future. This project contains the desire to transmit this energy, this big swell of cosmic life forms, from Tokyo outward to the world and forward into the future. To express this concept, YOKOO Tadanori, a world-renowned artist who has been a leading figure in the Japanese art world for many years, and his daughter, renowned artist YOKOO Mimi produced original works based on the themes of “water (aqua)” and “fire (ignis)” respectively.
