“Tokyo Sound” by ISHIZUKA Shinichi“Here in the city” by DEMIZU Posuka“Edo - Tokyo 300 Year March” by HAGIO Moto“TOKYO20202 GOURMET/ SPOT/ HOTEL” by ICHIKAWA Haruko 漫画「もしも東京」展は、現在の日本を代表する20名の漫画家たちが、“東京”をテーマに描き下ろした20作品を展示するアートプロジェクトです。漫画家が制作した個性豊かな20点の「もしも東京」作品を、“読む東京、歩く漫画”をコンセプトに、東京都現代美術館の地下２階講堂や中庭等、館内のパブリックスペースも含め展示しました。点在する展示作品を、都市を巡るように鑑賞する、新しいカタチの漫画展です。 講堂に作られた街の路地のような道を抜けて漫画のコマのような小部屋の門をくぐると、そこには松本大洋の『東京の青猫』、浅野いにおの『TP』をはじめ、“まだ見ぬ東京”の世界を描いた18作品が出現。中庭の壁面には、石塚真一の100を超える東京らしさが描きこまれた巨大な１コマ漫画作品『Tokyo Sound』が展示され、見る人を圧倒。また、水と石のプロムナードでは、空間の奥行きや水上という場所の特性を活かした大童澄瞳の『East East』を展示しました。 それぞれの漫画家が抱く東京での思い出や豊かな想像力と表現力で描かれた「もしもの東京」は多くの人々を魅了し、記憶に残るものとなりました。 Exhibition of manga《What if Tokyo》was an art project showcasing 20 works drawn by 20 of Japan’s best-known manga artists present day. The artworks were exhibited in scattered fashion in public spaces inside the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, such as in the second basement floor auditorium and the courtyard, under the concept of “reading Tokyo, walking in a manga” to create a new type of manga exhibition. After walking along an alley-like path in the “city” that was created inside the auditorium, visitors passed through a gate leading into small rooms where 18 works were exhibited, including MATSUMOTO Taiyo’s “Tokyo Blue Cat” and ASANO Inio’s “TP,” each depicting “Tokyo as it has never been seen before.” On the wall of the courtyard, meanwhile, viewers were struck by ISHIZUKA Shinichi’s “Tokyo Sound,” a 100 one-frame manga work made up of 100 items symbolising Tokyo. Also on display at the water and stone promenade was OOWARA Sumito’s “East East” utilising depth of space and the characteristics of the surface of water.
