Roppongi Art Night is an art extravaganza staged in the district of Roppongi, home to a variety of cultural and commercial facilities. Visitors can walk around and enjoy various forms of art including design, music, video and performances that merge with the city to create an extraordinary experience. In 2019, CHOI Jeong Hwa, a leading figure in Asia’s contemporary art world, was invited to be the main programme artist. In the same year, over 80 installations and performances by Japanese and overseas artists were presented based on the theme “Night Journey, Daydream” and viewed by over 800,000 people. In 2020, the event, scheduled to be held in May, was cancelled due to COVID-19. Instead, the Roppongi Art Night official YouTube channel “RAN TV” was launched to infuse the city with a spirit of recovery invoked through the power of art.
