“Butoh”, a form of Japanese dance theatre that encompasses a diverse range of movements and has been recognised worldwide, and performances by dancers who follow the flow of Butoh were performed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property, and in downtown Hachioji, which was one of the largest textile-producing areas from the early 18th century through to the early 20th century. The performances were staged under the banner of Fantastic Site, a special series put on for the Tokyo Festival. Fantastic Site comprised a performance of Dairakudakan Temptenshiki’s “Crazy Camel Garden.” The production was directed by Tokyo Festival General Director MIYAGI Satoshi and performed on the outdoor stage at the garden of the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum from 21 to 23 May 2021.
